Also known as pigeon pea, congo pea, ambrevade or pwa di bwa in Guadeloupean Creole, pigeon pea is a perennial legume with seeds cultivated in rain-fed agriculture in semi-arid tropical regions.

Known for their antibacterial, hypotension, and antidiarrhoeal actions, the leaves can be eaten after cooking and the stems are used for brushing teeth.

Advice and maintenance

The plant plays the role of natural fertilizer from which the grain is harvested, or in monoculture by direct or inter-sowing. The pigeon pea is very resistant, however, good irrigation of the pigeon is recommended to have a good quality crop.
