Peperomia pellucida, better known under the name of the hawkweed, is one of the 400 species of peperomia. It is native to tropical America and it is a ruderal plant that can be found in shady wetlands.

Succulent, and edible, this annual plant blooms all year round, reaching no more than 30cm in height with translucent light green stems and alternate, stalked leaves.

Advice and maintenance

Couresse grass is very easy to maintain. It grows very fast. Plant it in a damp shady location and waterings only when the soil is dry.

Poor drainage can cause root rot, and cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) can cause ring spots. The only treatment is to destroy the infected plants. The plant is a host for mealybugs and the leaves are often eaten by slugs.

Upon receipt of your plants, moisten the pot for a few minutes to rehydrate the roots. Plant immediately with or without the pot by inserting into a suitable hole.
