The flamboyant is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the Fabaceae family, a subfamily of Caesalpinioideae, native to the tropics of America.

The widespread species in the West Indies can be an invasive plant with severgreen shrubs up to 3 to 5 meters tall, also large orange-red or yellow flowers, widely cultivated as an ornamental. Not to be confused with the much larger Delonix Regia also called flamboyant.

Advice and maintenance

A rich, well-drained, and fresh soil, accompanied by a sunny exposure. Watering when the weather is dry.

This species does not really tolerate container culture, however if you are attempting container culture moderate watering is recommended taking care to avoid standing water. Also bring a warm atmosphere to it.

Upon receipt of your plants, moisten the pot for a few minutes to rehydrate the roots. Plant immediately with or without the pot by inserting into a suitable hole.
